Tarun
In a recent bad move from the developers of the Crap Cleaner (CCleaner) software they have started to bundle Yahoo! Toolbar. Many long time users, pc technicians, and even new users have been complaining about the recent addition of the Yahoo! Toolbar. With the inclusion of the toolbar the download size has more than doubled. But this is not going without notice. Earlier today Softpedia revoked CCleaner's 100% Clean (No Spyware, No Adware, No Viruses) award. The Softpedia staff explain the reason for the removal of the award in clear red letters to warn users who may wish to download the software.CCleaner now contains Yahoo! toolbar, therefore the award has been removed and the program marked as adware.Perhaps the loss of the Softpedia award and the outcries of the users will help the developers of CCleaner to remove the toolbar and better listen to their users. Do you think the developers of CCleaner will listen? No. After taking over three months to solve a simple bug that was wiping out settings for MSN Messenger despite a solution being posted on their forums, the removal of the toolbar more than likely won't be a top priority on their list either.Read More... Tarun
No idea. Hopefully they won't force it. If they do they're going to lose a ton of users and donations.
denzilla
While the Yahoo stuff is annoying, I don't classify it as adware. Besides, there is a checkbox to opt out of yahoo toolbar installation that anyone with half a brain can see during installation. He's surely getting a cash infusion from Yahoo for including it so let him make some lunch money. Edited February 15, 2006 by denzilla

They answer most of the time with:"Yes!! But which sponsor? Dont see a question about sponsor or adware?"Windows is to easy to use for dummies, thats why people earns money at this toolbar. And what do you understand at "adware"? I call programs which wants to install without my permission adware...But if they stay creating nontoolbarversions, i am happy then !

Thats what the handy checkbox in the install options is for. Granted, it shouldn't be checked by default, but I'm sure thats a requirement set by Yahoo, not the Ccleaner dev. Konfabulator hasn't changed any since Yahoo bought them other than their name. The way I see it, if you're using a program like Ccleaner that deletes file and messes with the registry, then you should be smart and experienced enough to pay attention to its installation process. If you don't, then you deserve what you get. In this case, It could be alot worse. Imagine the stink it would create if it was WhenU or VX2 Ccleaner was installing instead of Yahoo. LLXX
I'd just unpack the installer and rip out all the crap. (Ironic, since Ccleaner stands for Crap Cleaner...)

alsiladka
Well with the slim version available , i do not think we should cry and whine. They are providing us with a great app. , free of cost , money must sneak through somewhere.Especialy with the faster connection now a day , we can do with an MB of extra download and deselect it while downloading.
