Unofficial Windows 98 SE Upgrade Pack:

http://www.wupg98.co1.at/

installs Movie Maker files from WinME setup CD and patched MOVIEMK.EXE from:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=262806

Patch [449 KB, English]:

http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownlo...75D567C1451.EXE

D/l wupg98en.exe [English if that's your language, otherwise d/l the German exe] from URL above [~ 24 MB].

Then extract files in respective subdirectories [preserving directory structure] using PowerArchiver or similar tool:

http://www.mdgx.com/toy.htm#ZIP

Then go to the W subdirectory, open INSTALL.BAT in Notepad, and look at this line:

Copy C:\wupg\mm1 %windir%\MovieMaker

Then go to the MM1 subdirectory and look at the files there.

Hope this helps.

Sorry about not being able to install MM properly from wupg98en.exe.

I've also tried to do this, but did not work. :(

I'm going to try some more to install MM from WinME CD on 98SE in the near future, and if I succeed, I'll add it to 98SE2ME.

I believe [?] MM needs 98SE2ME option 3 already installed.

Many thanks for your kind appreciation.

You don't need anything special to run movie maker

It started working after install this pack http://rapidshare.de/files/25721353/Advance.EXE.html

MDGx I need you to analyze it to see whats allowing Windows Movie Maker to work

without the updated shell32.dll from WinME/Kernel Update Project

You are exactly right i just figure it out

I had the Kernel Update Project installed and it patched my shell32.dll

and i saved that patched shell32.dll because i had resource hacked the icons

so when i do a clean install i don't have to keep changing them.

That means my patched shell32.dll have added APIs

that means in the future when service packs are made take this thought

into consideration.

Sorry bout that MDGx didn't mean to send you on a wild goose chase

but i didn't know of this myself

We learn something new everyday.
