I ran everything like I supposed to.

Just intergrated DX9,Media Player9, and codec.

FDV files to remove IE.

It is hanging up at

Windows 2000-KB904706-DX9-x86-ENU.exe

its been this way for over an hour.

If I want msconfig where doI put it?

I got a list of files for nlites keep box

Which files do I need not remove with nlite.

Are you sure that your Windows2000-KB904706-DX9-x86-ENU.exe file is OK? In other words, if you are running an 2k machine now, what happens when you double click it? Does it say that it is corrupt?

OK all I did was use hfslip, codec, dx9, and media player 9. The kb904706 just appeared. The downloads came from your links. Should I redownload everything and do it again?

The question about nlite after is 1 where I dont want to mess up hfslip. I have the keep files pasted in notepad for use with nlite.

Oh I want msconfig too. Where do I put it?

Dirt, if you mouse over the CMD window and click, HFSLIP will stop working.

Then you've got to click on the window again and hit the space bar.

I've hung HFSLIP a few times that way. Check that out, see if it helps.

BTW, I'm creating an HFSLIP for WinXP right now because I'm fixing a friend's computer with hardware that doesn't have Win2k drivers and dear God, XP is one huge sucker, the HFSLIP is taking forever.

You can try using XP drivers for W2k - they should be the same. XP is not more then W2k + some bloat

Already tried. Didn't work. It's a laptop, you know how they all have customized parts and drivers.

As for XP bloat, you're not kidding. That OS is just a pig. If I'm forced to use it more, M$ had better release a SP3 because integrating 50+ hotfixes took forever.

I would still like to hear the results of you creating an ISO of your source folder (yes the one that is presently on your hard drive) and testing it in a VMware or equivalent. Before you said you tested your installation CD. That is different. There are lots of times that a cd doesn't copy properly. Sorry I can't much help unless I hear results of your VMware test.

Speaking of copy, how much free hard drive space do you have?

Have you tried your tests with vmware without using FDV's fileset?

If you're that annoyed about integrating 50+ hotfixes into XP, go to RyanVM's web site. He has developed a method to integrate all publicly-released hotfixes into the Windows XP source files. Worth a look (but only if u're interested!)

RyanVM is the man. I like what he's done.

OTOH, I've already used HFSLIP to create my XP CD (worked great! Thanks again TommyP ) so I've already created the HFSLIP folder structure and collected all the hotfixes.

I do use a bunch of RyanVM's switchless installers.

I am wondering if anyone can do this to simplify things. Picture and name of folders and name of what goes in each.

I will explain why. I made 1 sucessful HFSLIP and added 2 more folders and failed

I added HFEXPERT for msconfig and a reducer folder to reduce the source.

I am adding DX9, MP9, codec, msconfig and reducing the source.

and of cource the reducer files. It expands files in HF then hangs. If I have anything out of place or in the wrong order. Please tell me.

Dirt, you need a LOT more hotfixes in your HF folder. You're missing almost all of them.

Check out Tomcat's list and follow his instructions exactly.

If you are using FDV files, you should not be using Win Media Player Installer since FDV fileset removes WinMedia Player.

Also, the names of your folders appear to be off.
