FSB Performance Question

I am going to build a new 64 bit computer in the next few weeks (finally upgrading the trusty Athlon 2200+). Will I notice any performance difference between an 800Mh FSB and 1000Mhz FSB? I am trying to stay on a tight budget with this build and would like to know the difference in performance, if any, between the two. This is going to be a gaming rig so I'd like to get the most "bang for my buck"

hmm, fsb, amd? amd doesnt use fsb, the call it htt, but are rly the same exact thing. you wont notice much of a difference at all. you need any help on picking out parts? if so then give us a price and a list of what u need.

I'll explain my situation and try to make as much sense as possible. About a month or two ago I purchased an ASUS X800 Pro AGP graphics card thinking I wouldn't be upgrading my entire comp this soon. As luck would have it someone offered me good money for my current PC (w/ my old 9700 Pro in it). I would like to keep the X800 Pro AGP card and upgrade the rest. I know this forces me to use a nForce 3 motherboard. I guess my biggest concern/question is with what mother board to buy. Here is what I have picked out so far. Any suggestions/changes to the hardware is welcome.

Processor:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice Core

Memory:

Corsair XMS 2x512.

Hard Drive:

Seagate Barracuda 250Gb Sata

DVD/CD Drive:

Asus Dual Layer DVD-RAM IDE DVD Burner

Case:

Aspire X-Cruise w/ 420Watt PSU

Total without the motherboard = $572.96 USD

get the 3200, overclock to about the same anyways

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103535

that is if you want a venice

you could also spend 20$ more for a 3700 san diego

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103539

but i think that this would be the best choice, the opteron

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103595

expect more than 3ghz out of this chip if u want to overclock, also it has a nice cache on it

for the dvd burner get this:

and are you rly sure that u want to keep the card, which forces you to use nf3. you rly need to go for nf4, see if you can convice whoever your selling ur old comp to, to see if he will pay more money for the x800 instead.

Huge thanks for the Opteron recommendation. I hadn't even considered that option and now I am going to order it before they are discontinued next month. Do you have any mobo ideas? I am going to keep the AGP card for this build and worry about PCI-E next time around. Thats why I wanted to keep this build on a tight budget.

The Gigabyte K8NSC-939 will support the Opteron 148 but only supporst 1600Mz HT while the processor is capable of 2000Mhz HT. Will this cause a noticeable decrease in performance? Can the computer actaully use all of that bandwidth?

I believe the FSB is on the cpu with the new AMD chips. That is what I have been told by a very reliable source. That would make it much faster than the FSB on the mobo that you probably now use.

Personally, I've had a great experience with Epox motherboards:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813123222

The power pack on my board included 9 heatsinks for MOSFET's and any other small chips you wanted to cool. Also, there was a screwdriver that was compatible with all of the screws my computer uses, very helpful if you don't know the first thing about screwdrivers and screw sizes.

If you're on a budget:

Nothing that's going to use less money than this.
