Dial-a-fix Releases

Dial-a-fix is a collection of "known fixes" that DjLizard has created over the past year that really knock out some serious Windows problems, all with one or two clicks. "When in doubt, check em all..." Most of the fixes are found in Microsoft Knowledgebase articles. When you see a list of DLLs that Microsoft is telling you to use REGSVR32 on, chances are they are already included in Dial-a-fix. You can figure out what most checkboxes do by hovering over them with your mouse. The tooltip describes what is going on (usually in command-line terminology). Please note that by itself, Dial-a-fix can pose no harm to your system, even if your system is working properly. All this program does, in a nutshell, is: stop services, install selected software, register DLLs, restart services, and remove rogue policies. This program is a must have for any tech out there.

Fixes problems with Windows.

Example: Uninstall Norton and use SymNRT.

That breaks a lot of Windows things, like Windows Update and BITS. DAF can repair Windows Update, etc by reregistering and repairing .dll's and the services.

Dial-a-fix 0.60.0.16

  • This version officially deprecates DAF v0.57.7
  • Fixed problem with secedit.exe (of the Repair permissions tool) where it would potentially remove limited user accounts from the Windows XP welcome screen (they still existed, however) - also updated stand-alone Repair Permissions script
  • Updated a few DLL error mechanisms to make it a bit more intelligent in its responses to the user
