Spyware Infection

Recommended Posts

While the Microsoft Spyware Programme tells me that my computer is not infected I still have that Spyware Infected Banner on my blue screen while another narrow banner telling me that the computer is infected scrolls across the top of the screen.

I realize that others have had this problem too and some solutions have been offered which do not work for me. For instance a right-click on the desktop does not give access to ‘Active Desktop so I cannot un-tick ‘Show Web Content’

In the control panel under display I am unable to select another background. Is there another way to get rid of this annoying banner and desktop background?

Thanks

Bernardo :(

Have you tried to go into your display control panel? Have you tried running an av scan? How about a lavasoft and adawre scan? All with the latets updates?

Yes I have done all of that and have succeeded in getting the Spyware Infection Banner off the screen.

I am now left with a narrow banner which intermittently pops up and runs along the top of the screen which tells me that my computer is infected and to 'Press here for help' which of course only takes me to a spyware site.

Any idea how I might get rid of that final banner?

I appreciate your replies.

Sorry some further info.:

The following runs as a banner across the top of my screen as follows:

Warning! Your Computer is Infected! Press here for help!

This takes me to the following site:

So how can I get rid of this most annoying banner.

Sounds to me like you've got adware. Microsoft AntiSpyware, AdAware, and Spybot turned up no results? Have you updated them to the most recent defs? Another item to try is ewido.

Also please post a HijackThis log to get your system cleaned. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

i think its virus infection, not spyware or adware, if u just want ot stop it from running find out its system name is called then in ms antispy go to that system explorers part and tell it to stop it from running!
