Firefox 1.5 Leaks Memory?

Does anyone else have trouble with Firefox 1.5 leaking memory?

I'm using Windows XP SP1.

Here's a few screenshots.

Just opened Firefox:

i'm not having trouble, at least not that i've found, but it looks like you're not the only one. did you do a clean install, or an upgrade? look on the mozilla forums.

Clean install. But I left all the previous data that the uninstallation left behind in the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox folder. It essentially saved all my settings.

Should I delete this folder during the reinstallation?

EDIT: Nevermind, I see it.

EDIT 2: So that worked nicely. Still gets crazy with the RAM usage with high resolution pictures, but at least the CPU usage is down to roughly 1% as it should be.

the posted images are not about memory leak. its probalby about the noumber of open tabs. close some tabs and see the consumed memory decreases.

That does help, but I don't recall it being that bad with 1.0.7.

Get Firetune and optimize your Firefox.

Next, go to about:config and enter this entry:

browser.cache.memory.capacity - 16384

me too. found high cpu and memory usage with firefox 1.5. better stick with 1.07

I think ars had an article as to why FF was using so much memory when it came to displaying images...ultimate conclusion bad programming.

I have a simliar thread over at Neowin. One helpful member pointed out that since FF 1.5 has the new instant back/forward feature, that it will use more RAM. I had 2 tabs open and had been on an astronomy site picture gazing for about an hour.
