Problems with some hotfix - gives dialog box during unattended

Hi all,

I really hope someone could give a tip towards what hotfix that is causing this problem.

During my unattended installation of Windows XP there is a dialog box popping up regarding Windows Media Player 10. There are the options of pressing OK or Cancel. If i press OK i give up the chance of later undoing this change trough System Restore.

However what is bugging me is i removed Windows Media Player trough nLite and as far as i see i have not included any hotfixes regarding to WMP.

If you want i can include the list of hot fixes im using...

Any tips? :-)

Hi !

I had the same pb due to SR desactivation. In fact i've found a "easy" solution, using the Windows Media Player deployment pack (EDP) you can repack the installer (unattended) including your hotfix and regtweak.

However i dont know if you read my post? I am trying to NOT get WMP9 (nor WMP10) to get installed (Removed it using nLite).

I will be using Windows Media Player Classic instead.

In your setup line for Windows Media Player, use the switch "/DisallowSystemRestore". This will remove the prompt.

You are right it's a hotfix that's causing this problem.

After messing around with the svcpack.ini file I finally found the one that's causing the problem.

It's the KB891122 hotfix.

I added the /DisAllowSystemRestore to the hotfix, and now there's no prompt what so ever.

Even though you didn't believe me, glad to see my answer was still correct - good for the ego, you know . J/K

This switch will work for Windows Media Player, and most Windows Media Player hotfixes and updates (except perhaps Windows Media Connect, but that's techincally a shell update and not a WMP-specific update). Glad everything's working again.

i use nlite 1.0 rc6

but i dont understand what's the file to modify.

modify svcpack.ini ?

after or before the iso creation?

where is file? in the i386 directory?

changing the line "KB891122.exe /q /n /z /DisAllowSystemRestore" to svcpack.inf does remove the error during installation but when i start windowsupdate afterwards the KB891122 update still needs to be installed.
