Yeah, glad you finally got rid of that hand grenade, I was afraid it would explode in your hand some day.

Btw there is an msxml3.dll version 8.90.1101.0 that would appear to be more recent than the one in the current pack and which seems to work OK.

http://www.search-dll.com/dll-files/download/msxml3.dll.html

And since the pack is already quite big why not adding a bit of eye candy with the patched Vista screensavers? (I love Bubbles)

:hello:

Not sure I agree with that.

If you start putting that sort of thing in, it becomes more of an enhancement pack than a service pack.

I think things like that should be included in a separate package.

The build from WildBill / tomasz86's 2079403 for Windows 2000 is newer.

FWIW I agree with Dave-H.

Do you mean guys in a separate pack along all that is in this pack and is enhancement/add-on and not hotfix/security update such as:

Agent Server

Distributed Com Configurator

Euro Conversion Tool

IExpress Wizard

IPP Client

Paint Graphic Filters

Smart Card Base Components

New Animated Boot and Shutdown Logos

Ole Viewer

Power Management Troubleshooter

Remote Desktop Connection

True Type Fonts

True Type Properties Extension

TweakUI

UPnP

WBEM/WMI

Windows 2000 Theme

Wintop

Xbox 360 Controller Drivers

Zip Folders

A couple more suggestions:

VC++ 2005 SP1 runtime files: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5638

Windows 7/Office 2010 Gabriola true type font: http://www.fonts2u.com/font-vendors/microsoft-corporation.html

A quick question (and I hope it's the right place to ask it):

Does any comparable pack exist, incorporating all of the official Microsoft updates, for Windows 98 Standard (first) Edition?

Thanks!

Everything listed above is (ALL) optional. They are there for completeness. Also remember before I took over the SP, Gape had his own options for things that might be needed for certain individuals. I just expanded those options. Files included in the Service Pack are Microsoft only. I agree the pack has gotten bigger, so has some of the updates thats inside too. I have to say this is probably the smallest most up to date service pack for Win98SE. With all options selected, the service pack installs in less than 5 minutes.
Service Pack already includes a newer version MSDIA80.DLL 8.0.50727.4053

Problemchyld, I didn't mean to criticize the SP by making this list, I find it's all cool, I was just pointing out to those who criticized my suggestion to include the Windows Vista screensavers that the SP contains already many items that would equally fall under their criticism.

As for the VC++ 2005 SP1 runtime files, they are not only msdia80.dll so why not including also mfc80, msvcp80, msvcr80, atl80, vcomp, etc... since the equivalent earlier VC++ runtime files are already in the pack, eg.:xxx60.dll, xxx70.dll, xxx71.dll.

Your call anyway.

Cheers.

Edit: And btw, links for your SP are hard to find, I think you should ask dencorso for taking ownership of the first post of this thread or get a new sticky so it can be found easily.

PROBLEMCHYLD,

Thank you very much.

Would you happen to know if the unofficial Windows 98 SP2 contains everything that SP1 contains? In other words, for a fresh Win98FE install, should one install SP1 and then SP2, or can one move straight to SP2? I know it says that SP2 contains all hotfixes, updates, etc., but it's not entirely clear if that means (1) all updates ever released, or (2) all the updates released after SP1.
