Boot form Network

Hi everyone guys

i'm an administrator at network with 50 computers and everyweek we need to format at least one computer...

we doing this using ghost images that are on cd's.

Now i remembered that when i was in school every time they wanted to run ghost they was choosing "boot from network device" in the bios, and the

resterating the computer and it was booting from the network to a ghost that

was running the image.

Anyone knows or any idea perfect how to do this?

I feel your pain, and have a couple of ideal solutions for you.For starters, it helps if all of your PC's are at least the same brand and or model.Lets just assume they are Dell Optiplex, say.. GX260's. Best Method:Software Required: Bart Pe Norton Ghost 8.0 (you will need ghost32.exe and a couple other files from it) You will need the network drivers for the workstation PC's. That's why it helps if they are all the same or similar. Read the Bart Pe Docs for detailed instruction on this. Create a network share on your server to store the ghost images.When you get the Bart Pe disc all set up, boot from it. If all goes well and you have followed instructions you will have network support and can map a network drive to the ghost image network share, thus you can ghost your images there and retrieve them when needed. One evil to consider... WindowsXP activation. Once you run sysprep on a system you will be required to reactivate it unless you have a Volume License edition. Method 2: Ghost 2004. Make a drive mapping boot disk and pretty much do the same thing as above.It's a bit more intricate though. The BartPe method is MUUUUCH easier. It goes without saying that there are far more in depth steps to take, but I will assume since you administer so many systems you will have the knowledge needed to proceed. I am new here but i think i can help you.This is a method that i used recently for installing about 60 workstations.

RIS-installation is installation throughout the network.You make a image upon your server and you can deploy this.You can choose different images(depends on howmany you make) with office or other programs.You can find more info on following link

Required : one box running Windows Server 200x with services :

Networking Services > Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) configured

and

Trivial FTP Daemon (tftpd) installed

Don't need to be a domain controller for this purpose.

I have a network at my office (50 pc's wired to our Switch)one system I gave a main computer that shares its files with the other computers all the same make-up and in the same workgroup.No server here.All systems running on winxp professional.
