PROBLEMCHYLD Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Has anybody figured this out yet.Figured out WHAT? jaclazHow to use the Win98SE Shell32.dll/Explorer.exe with Mindows
jaclaz Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 How to use the Win98SE Shell32.dll/Explorer.exe with MindowsNO, but I don't think anyone even attempted it.I mean, the point of Mindows is to create a Minimal 9x, if you use the 98 shell, you'll also have IE and all the bloat coming with it. While making it a "full" 98 is out of the scope, maybe it is possible to only selectively make a particular app requiring Win98 shell32.dll work.Something like what was done by FDV for NT/2K:http://www.msfn.org/board/nt4-explorer-xp-t138242.htmlonly the other way around. jaclaz

Winimizer said Now I can kick back and pump out an installer for a Mindows which uses the Windows98 shell. It'll be larger than the basic Mindows(95), but still small, and of course, free of IE.
jaclaz Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I read your post and I don't believe you. That's good , as I also don't believe myself, though you found a rather unpolite way to express it. The whole point of the "unsure" emoticon was that I wasn't and am not really sure about it.Winimizer said Now I can kick back and pump out an installer for a Mindows which uses the Windows98 shell. PROBLEMCHYLD Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) If you don`t want to install directx, you can place these files and have Directx advantages without install itDdhelp.exeDxapi.sysDdraw.vxdDsound.dllDdraw.dllShould I add this direct update quartz.dll 6.5.1.907?Do I need to register the Direct X 9 files?I don't know if it works, but:Copy SHELL32.DLL 4.72 as SHELL32.SOL to C:\Windows\system.Use a hex-editor on Spider Solitare EXE and replace all SHELL32.DLL to SHELL32.SOL.If it wouldn't work (AND ONLY IF IT WOULDN'T), do that:Copy EXPLORER.EXE from any shell update as EXPLORER.SOL to C:\Windows.Use a hex-editor on EXPLORER.SOL and replace any SHELL32.DLL to SHELL32.SOL.Use a hex-editor on SHELL32.SOL and replace any EXPLORER.EXE to EXPLORER.SOL.It can make your 98/ME 1-2 MB bigger BUT you have the game.I want to credit Nathan Lineback (or how it was) for the idea.Does anybody use this method?
