How to unattendly apply Theme for Windows MCE?

Recommended Posts

In Windows XP Pro, modify the winnt.sif then i can force my default theme for UXPCD upon first logon.

However, that does not work in windows MCE,

even I specify to use Vista theme as default, upon fist logon, Windows automatically use Royale theme.

So my qs is, what can be done so i dont see Original Royale?

Plz help, Thx in advance

Open your winnt.sif file and add this :

[Shell]
CustomDefaultThemeFile="%windir%\Resources\Themes\"YOUR".Theme"
DefaultStartPanelOff = Yes

"YOU" = your theme name you want to use exam. : luna.Theme

Now make sure you have the following maps in your XPCD folder "

X:\xpcd\$OEM$\$$\Resources\Themes ( X stands for your drive )

In the themes folder you put your theme.

This will NOT work. MCE applies the "Energy Bliss" on its own and ignores that setting.

First of all, I dont know if kelsenellenelvian's method works, but the rest, i tried. No luck...

Those methods worked fine with XP Pro but not MCE...

I have a thought of replacing the Royale theme file in I386; however, I can't seem to find it...

Anyone knows the file name? plz help

I'm trying kelsenellenelvian's method, will report if it works.

I think the file your looking for is the Royale.mst file inside the MEDIACTR.CAB inside the CMPNENTS folder. Its exactly the same size as Royale.msstyles and works fine when renamed.

I am not sure how to repack the MEDIACTR.CAB though after replacing the file. RyanVM would probably know how though.
