Crash&Burn
Well looks like so long as you haven't changed permissions on the %windir%\registration folder, yer fine. And 80%+ of the things stated to be having problems I don't think any of us run WinUpdate, WindowsFirewall... Course I haven't upgraded my own Firewall in ages, sides when I located a download for Kerio 2.1.5which supplanted Tiny Personal Firewall 2.0.15a
saugatak
oh boy, the IE cumulative update is supposed to be screwed up too.http://informationweek.com/story/showArtic...cleID=172301286But I don't have to worry about it thanks to FDV Who needs IE? redxii
I use IE. I installed all the updates for XP SP2 and I don't have any problems, nor does my virtual machine with XP SP2. Firewall et. al appear to be working just fine. Perhaps because Microsoft doesn't test every single 3rd-party addon? Since testing 3rd-party addons for IE isn't their job. Crash&Burn
What do you mean by "manual" ... if you mean unpacking it and manually applying it - I don't see how that could be "prevented" ... and if you've not disabled SFC, from my recollection it can be used to update system files. I think I'd redownload it, perhaps its corrupted...if not that sounds like you may have some kind of system instability going.
