nadatech Posted March 27, 2003 Share Posted March 27, 2003 Having problem with my Win 98 machine. On boot the system posts a registry\config error, need to run scanreg. When I try to run at c: prompt, I get "the program is too large for memory". I renamed the two files, autoexec.bat and config.sys to free up the memory, but with no luck. I have tested the RAM and is functional, I assume it it the cache memory that I am needing to run the scanreg. From what I have read, I am to the point of reloading the OS, although if anyone has suggestions, it would be appreciated. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If the swap file is to large (check the size in control panel) you could resize it, but that might affect the system performance depending on how much RAM you have installed. Did you recently resize or create any partitions? Could be the partitions (if any) could be to small. Give us the system specifications and is this a fresh install of Win98 or an Upgrade?
