flak_monkey
I am building a new workstation with dual opteron 250 troy's, tyan thunder k8we, bfg 7800gtx OC, and 2 gb of ram. Anyway, I have my current 32 bit pc set up EXACTLY how I like it, with tons and tons of programs and settings that are going to be a nightmare to reinstall and duplicate onto a new pc. Is there any way to transfer everything (programs, registry, settings) over to my new workstation while having xp 64 on my new machine? The last time I used file settings transfer wizard, it didn't work at all and I lost all of my data. Luckily, I keep a ghosted drive for such occaisions, but I had to start all over anyhow. Does anybody have any advice for me? Is there an upgrade to 64 bit option that will let me change motherboards and cpu's? I know XP freaks out when you change boards on it, it won't load mup.sys and all that jazz. So anybody know what I can do?Thanks, Chris
getwired
No, there is no safe or reliable way to do what you are looking to do. You need to start over...
flak_monkey
GRRRRRRRR! Well that is going to be a pain in the butt. Can I at least transfer over all of my administrative settings, preferences, favorites and all that jazz?
getwired
Not automatically, no. Generally a manual process. I think certain aspects of FSTW may work, but not sure how well...
dale5605
Use nLite to do some of the initial customizations and then do the rest yourself, using runonce, or WPI or something.
