Why is it that all keyboards have since 95 the windows keys? If i want to buy a keyboard without the windows key I can't because aparently they aren't manufactured anymore, what do the keyboard manufacturing companies earn in adding that extra key? Are they paid for it?

Does anyone know any keyboard brand which sells a normal keyboard without the three extra keys?

99.9% of the computers sold in this world for the past ten years have some version of Windows on them. (It was a real God-send when the companies started adding that Windows key.)

And in each version there have been a pot full of windows shortcuts, using that infamous Windows Key.

Anyone with even half a brain has learned at least one shortcut that they can use on a regular basis. Geeks, nerds and tech's however use many of those shortcuts.

I personally use the Windows/E combination every day to open up Windows Explorer.

I hate the little laptop keyboards that don't have any windows key at all. You then have to go to START/Programs to find Windows Explorer.

I've heard a lot of very lame complaints about one thing or another,,,,but this one is just plain "Portugese".

I don´t know about desktops, but IBM / lenovo thinkpads don't have the offending key. Maybe an IBM Keyboard ...

Yeah, that's a real pain. Another thing that bugs me about IBM ThinkPad keyboards is the lack of a right-click key and how they don't put the Ctrl key in the very corner.

Hi,

you can also call for example HP and tell them that you want to buy a replacement Keyboard for your AlphaServer - these Machines use standard PS/2 connected Keyboards with PC104 Layout (look same as the actual types they sell with their PC's) but don't have the Windows Keys. Same with IBM and their RS/6000 Keyboards.

/edit:

btw imho the best keyboard ever (and still) manufactured is the Avant Stellar Keyboard: http://www.cvtinc.com/products/keyboards/stellar.htm
