Drive letter assignemet ? No problem !

Recommended Posts

Hi all !

i'v searched a long time for a utility witch assigns my HD partition, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drive letters automatically for my UA CD.

And i would like to pass my experiences here, because i learned a lot here !

Thank You all !

For me, the "ultimative" drive letter assigment script is Mapdrive

Mapdrive a batch file with explanation, simply to use and multilingual !

Made in France :thumbup

And here the link: Mapdrive Mdes !

Congratulation and greetings from:

Nice one - cheers...!!!

Tharts a huge script... sure I did this with a simple batch file, few lines of text and diskpart.exe... seems way too complicated...

Its good to keep things simple....

DISKPART> select volume 0

Volume 0 is the selected volume.

DISKPART> assign letter=x

DiskPart successfully assigned the drive letter or mount point.

Drives/partitions will usually be the same volume id, and can be found by running diskpart.exe and "list volume" command.. once you know the volume id, it is as easy as "assign letter=" to reassing a letter to the desired volume...

For exammple, volume 0, is usually an optical drive, and in the above instance, will be reassigned the letter X. The above is done fromt he command prompt, but can be easily replicated in a very simple script file, consisting of onyly a few lines...
