I cannot connet to the net. the hardware wizard shows device working properly. the net line works when i connect the cable line to my neighbours laptop.ive opened up the cabinet and there ae no burn marks on the board.however, i get the message "Network cable unplugged" when i connect the cable to my pc. any workaround for this ptoblem. chilifrei64
maybe a bad switchport....I have had single ports go bad. are you plugging directly from the comptuer to a switch or through a wired network(IE through the ceilings, down the walls and into a switch closed) cable tester give you any information. phoenix_nf
yup connecting directly to the switchport, similar to the way we connect the phone line to the modem.
ringfinger
Have tried using another NIC besides the one built-in to your mobo? Try getting a good ol' 10/100 PCI NIC and see if it'll connect then. Try different ports on the back of your router/switch or do you connect directly into your modem?
phoenix_nf
FIXED:The port was faulty. I had to get a new LAN card.
