Dee dee's lab Posted August 8, 2005 Share Posted August 8, 2005 I am trying to upgrade my windows 98 se to windows xp...but it takes toomuch time..I have downloaded the smartdrive but i don't understand what's wrong. I run it on DOS..it says that there's an error in himem.sys and check config.sys .....etc..how do i use this smartdrv? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Use the boot floppy from 98-boot off this choose minimum boot option-type fdisk at the a> promptchoose use large files then select yes evertime it ask you- go to the option to delete primary partition-then creat primary partition-now you are ready to formatreboot with floppy in traychoose the option without disk support(type) format c: hit returnanswer yes to everything it ask you let it format to fat 32after format put in xp cd and reboot-then install Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The rest is history.That's how I got this system from 98/SE to XP-Pro. Piece of cake!Then don't forget to install SP2.
