How to Change Boot name?

Hi everybody,

i wanna to know how i can change the boot name (i.e. when windows finsh it's installation u will c

Windows XP Media Center Edition
i wanna it to be Windows MSFN.

→i don't wanna any one to told me go to boot.ini and change it ..no

i wanna this process Automatically

→Also i don't wanna any one to told me to make Batch and use bootcfg to make it ..no

→i have try to change the name in txtsetup.sif

[Strings]
wks_id   = "Microsoft Windows XP Professional"

and i found that change in it change the name appear in before enter the textmode.

♠Also when i installwindows MCE i found that :

When i install 1st CD Without the 2nd one i get the name

Microsoft Windows Xp

When i setup MCE 2 CD's i get the name :

Windows XP Media Center Edition

→So i think that thing which change the name to MCE is in the 2nd CD?!

but i don't know it!

Any ans will be great.

the answer lies in smss.exe in your i386\system32 folder, open it in a resource editor, it is somewhere in the message table section, you can also change a lot of the other setup sentences in there

and you will have your answers.

i know it but also if u concentrate in reading my post u will c this

→By Modifying smss.exe u can change msgs which u can c it in text mode& u will need also to change make some change in setupldr.bin to get them work .

○Also i search in smss.exe for "Microsoft Windows XP professional " and i don't get any results,So if u get any ones Plz tell me.

Out of curiosity why are you so reluctant to use a batch script? 

They in general make things easier. 

Just precreate another boot.ini, kill the old one and replace it, then RASH the puppy with attrib. Why such a bad thing?

I know this method but i wanna to replace Microsoft windows name not just use batch to change it

i wanna my windows to look like Microsoft one
