jpless
They will run with their own speed un affected by eachother!
nateklomp
No, your HDD won't lost RPM's. However, (as I understand it), an ATA33 slaved to an ATA133 device will limit both devices to ATA33's throughput rate. m16si
Yes But how do i know if it is a 33 ATA i know that 80 GB HD is ATA133 so if i connect a ATA33 onto 133 thew faster hd will gain ATA33.....????Is that a lot slower or os there a big diffrence between ATA33 and ATA133
Zxian
@m16si - Look at jpless' post. Unless the older drive is terribly old (like 8-9 years) your system should run just fine. If you want to avoid the possiblity of your new drive running slower than it could, simply connect the old hard drive to your secondary IDE channel (you'll be sharing with your optical drive now probably) and the new drive on the primary IDE channel.
