Changing the service pack version?

Hi:

There are some programs require Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed.

I have Windows XP Service Pack, 1 plus all the updates for Service Pack 2

installed. I do not want to install Service Pack 2. Is it possible to change

Service Pack version under registry or copying some files from Service Pack 2?

Thanks.

i am not sure you can manipulate service pack build numbers. i do however recommend service pack 2. if you have any problems with certain aspects of service pack 2 you can use msfn and other online microsoft related for any help which might require.:)

it is really worth while updating.

I was not able to get rid of the System Volume Information folder with

Service Pack 2. Even if I deleted the folder, Windows XP was creating it

at login. I searched for it, but I could not find any answer.

I also have so many modifications, that I do not remember most of it,

so I won't be able to set Service Pack 2 the way my system is right now.

Thanks. I downloaded the x-setup, but it only modifies the CSDVersion in the

registry. I also tried to change BuildLab version, although mine shows xpsp2,

and that did not work. I am thinking there might be some files I am missing.
