Problem with raid driver install

Recommended Posts

Please forgive me if this has been asked before, I'm new and making my first post.

I've just created my first unattended Windows XPCD with apps (acrobat 7, sym antivirus 10, shockwave, and flash) and it was succesful.

The cd works in all regular machines. But if the machine has sata raid thats where the problem comes in. I hit F6 to install from floppy then choose the right OS driver and seems its reading the floppy but never takes.

I went to asus website download the latest sata drivers placed on floppy same thing.

I also have an machine with an Abit board and sata. Went through the same steps and when it got to F6 I hit enter then placed floppy when asked and the same thing. It seems like its reading but says file XXXX not found.

But when I use my untouched (no custom winnt.sif) XP CD it reads the files or floppy with no problem and setup countinues.

I've read where people have been putting the raid drivers onto the CD to install automatic, but I prefer to use a floppy cause I have 4 computers and each one has different drivers also If i use my CD somewhere else I may need to install the raid driver for that board or system at the time.

Please forgive me if it's a simple solution, but I have search but have no answer.

Here is a copy of my winnt file (password and name Edited)

THANK YOU in advance to all that reply.

Thank you for the link, seems very informit, I will give it a try. But as I said before I would like to install SATA Drivers from the F6 menu using floppy because I have several computers in the house and each have different drivers (Via VT6420, Promise Fasttrak 378, Promise sata378, HPT 374, HPT 372).

Those are just an example of some of the motherboards drivers, plus if I take the CD on the field I may need to use the floppy for that board on hand.

THANK YOU for your help.

Thank you, but I seem to have found the problem with the raid drivers not being installed from a floppy during F6.

When creating an Image using Nlite then burning the iso, installing the drivers from floppy never worked. But when creating the CD using Roxio or Nero there was no problem so I detect the problem is in Nlite.

Today I checked NLite to see if an update is available and for sure it was along with a few fixes and SATA was one of them.

Here is the quote:

- fix: RAID/SATA integration for some whome drive was undetected

(let me know if yours is not ok, x64 still reboots for some, adding other method soon)

Thank you all for your input.

:( ahoy . . I am having the same problem aswell. During install it says [driver cannot be found, or driver is corrupted] with original un-touched cd, no problem whatsoever. I went from a old version of nlite to lates build with no luck. I tried burning the iso thru nero and no luck.
