Recent command ?

Hi,

Can anyone give me an explenation of the recent command.

Start

Run

type 'recent'

OK

It is pretty straight forward and is not a command as such, I think. But could someone explain what it is to me.

I did and got "Windows cannot find 'recent'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."

You need to do it on a standard XP install. No mods or tweaks.

the best way to find out is to enter recent /?

Yes, as stated, it will open the 'special folder', %userprofile%\My Recent Documents. My guess is that the clue is in the fact it is a 'special folder'.

You can also simply type my documents without needing quotes to get %userprofile%\My Documents, or favorites to get %userprofile%\Favorites and temp to get %windir%\Temp for example.
