the_guy
It doesn't work because the vulnerability itself does not affect Windows 98/SE/ME.An unofficial .Net 2.0 with the update will install on 98/SE/ME, however.the_guy
MDGx
Done:* Microsoft Paint Add-on Import + Export Graphic Filters Pack Installer for Windows 9x/NT4/2000/ME/XP/2003 [1.68 MB]:http://www.mdgx.com/files/GRPHFLTS.EXEYou have replaced ADVPACK.DLL 6.0.2900.2172with ADVPACK.DLL 5.0.2013.1301 in this latest releaseThat's the earliest version that works properly with all 9x OSes.I replaced it because I want all my patches to have this version. It is the smallest of all newer versions. And besides, advpack.dll is only a helper DLL, does not install anywhere on your system. If you had a newer one before, you'll have the same one after installing such "advanced" patches.HTH__________________________________________As I made those updates, I will send MDGx some redone updates in the next few days. Also @ MDGx: Could you please upload the fixes I sent you a little while ago?the_guyI have uploaded all NT4, 2000 + IE updates you sent:NT4 updates:http://www.mdgx.com/wnt4.htm2000 updates:http://www.mdgx.com/w2ktoy.htmIE updates:http://www.mdgx.com/ietoy.htmthe_guy:I noticed in some ME updates you did not include start.exe anymore.I suggest to add it back in, because not all users have it somewhere in the path. Without it, nircmd commands are useless, and most system updates will not install on ME if SR/WFP is not "killed" beforehand.erpdude8:I have uploaded all 3 Notepad fixes here:http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm#NPU Edited July 18, 2006 by MDGx
the_guy
@MDGx: I thought that Windows ME included start.exe on all systems. I 'll redo those updates in the coming days then, it looks like.the_guy
MDGx
It does by default, but some people either delete manually c:\windows\command and its files or use 98lite to delete it.I had this problem some time ago with somebody who wanted to install 98SE2ME, but previously used 98lite to delete all files in c:\windows\command .That's why I include start.exe in all packages.HTH

the_guy
I made an unofficial 909363 update for 98/ME. It is on MDGx's site.About the other 2, I have no idea.the_guy
erpdude8
I made an unofficial 909363 update for 98/ME. It is on MDGx's site.About the other 2, I have no idea.the_guytry again for KB817914. maybe it's still available.I've tested MDGx's unofficial MP917734 patch for WMP 7.1. It does NOT work, even with WMP 7.1 installed.I believe most versions of the WMP 7.1 files are version 7.01 instead of 7.10 such as original WMPUI.DLL file which is version 7.01.00.3055 (not 7.10.00.3055; WHOOPS!). KB917734 for WMP 7.1 has WMPUI.DLL version 7.10.00.3078. MDGx will need to redo the MP917734 fix for WMP 7.1 [hint- from its SED file, change TargetFileVersion of WMPUI.DLL from 7.10 to 7.01].Also there should only be TWO unofficial KB832353 WMP updates for Win95/98/ME instead of three [just Q832353.EXE and MP832353.EXE] WM832353.EXE should be removed as MP832353.EXE does work under Win98FE and Win95 as long as the LaunchWMPInf.exe finds either WMP 7.1 or 9.0 installed and will install the appropriate files.Use Q832353.EXE when updating ONLY the msdxm.ocx file for WMP 6.4. LaunchWMPInf.exe from MP832353.exe and KB832353.exe for ME will NOT update the msdxm.ocx file if either WMP 7.1 or 9.0 is NOT installed and WMP 6.4 is by itself. erpdude8
I made an unofficial 909363 update for 98/ME. It is on MDGx's site.About the other 2, I have no idea.the_guyIt will need to be revised, the_guy. I've just found problems with it. It keeps on prompting me for the MSXML3.DLL file. Found out that the [sourceDiskFiles] and [sourceDiskNames] sections are missing from the kb909363.inf file. That's what's causing the installation problems. I will send a revised kb909363.inf file with the corrections to MDGx so that he can re-create the unofficial 909363 patch for win98/me/nt4. erpdude8
Please remove the DHTMLED.OCX + TRIEDIT.DLL IE4/IE5 MS09-011 security updates off your IE page. They are no longer available from Microsoft as they have pulled them off their download servers. Also I have found a fatal flaw with Microsoft's KB832414 MSXML 2.5 [MSXML.DLL] patch. It does NOT contain a CAT file for WinME and if you run this patch under WinME, the updated MSXML.DLL file will get REJECTED by SFP . WinME users MUST run Coolkill or Winkill to shutdown STMGR.EXE and run the KB832414 MSXML 2.5 update while SFP is disabled to update the MSXML.DLL file. erpdude8
I'm in the process of creating the WinME Help & Support Content Update [wuwmupd1.exe] which includes files taken from the wuwmupd1.cab file. This fix requires the Q299014 update. I remember when I downloaded the Q299014 WinME Help & Support Update thru V3 Windows Update back in the summer of 2001, it downloaded both the Q299014.exe and wuwmupd1.cab files and installed the updates from both of those files.after installing the files from wuwmupd1.cab and rebooting the WinME computer, Help & Support will open at startup displaying info about the Help & Support content update of Nov. 2000.MDGx, I wonder if you would like to make a Text Converter Filters pack that will install updated filters in the TEXTCONV folder? MDGx
MDGx, I wonder if you would like to make a Text Converter Filters pack that will install updated filters in the TEXTCONV folder?Sure. Please list here the current versions of all files in TEXTCONV folder that you know of.This is what I have so far:HTML32.CNV 2003.1100.6551.0MSWRD832.CNV 2003.1100.6551.0MSCONV97.DLL 2003.1100.6551.0MSWRD632.WPC 2004.10.21.0WRITE32.WPC 2004.11.7.
the_guy
@MDGx: This might be a little off topic, but the usp10.dll fix for 2003 I sent you should work in your RICHED fixes. What is the difference betwen the 9X and NT versions of those anyway? Also, my Textconv folder has a lot more files, but I pin that to having Office 2000 installed on my computer. The 5 files you have are the same versions as the ones on mine, with the exception of me having an older version of write32.wpc.the_guy
