"Media Players"

I was wondering what the most popular media player was among everyone. I am trying to find a new media player since I have grown quite tired of Winamp running slow and slowing down my CPU since AOL decided to spam it. I would not recommend Winamp v5.09 from my personal experiences, stick with v5.08. I can sum it up in one sentence, "Winamp...it really licks the lhama's a$$!" :D (If you've used Winamp you'll get that.) Anyway, what are some altenatives to Winamp?

Been living under a rock? :P

Popular players nowadays are:

Media Player Classic <IMHO the best!

Zoom Player <A very heavy interface and tooo many options for an average user's liking

VideoLan <Pffft....

BSPlayer <It's alright...

But don't take my word for it, try them all for yourself to truly determine which one is right for you. ;) But, MPC really is awesome.

I still resort back to Winamp every time I find a new media player that people like... all because of customizable keyboard shortcuts. They're pretty essential for my on my laptop. Foobar has them, but the back and forward don't obey the "random play" setting, they go to the next track in the playlist... not very good for an "all music" playlist. :P

Winamp it is for me!

I use

For playing video

Windows Media Player Classic

+Addons --> Real Alternative; Quicktime Alternative; XP Codec Pack

why?

*because its very lite

*because its stable

*its fast

*you can make screenshots

*it spports subtitles

*no bullshiii like realplayer and quicktime does

For music, I use: Winamp (I dont know why, maybe I got used to it.

(And have WMP10 installed, but never use?)

WMP for video. Why? It's there...

MusicMatch Jukebox 10 for music. It's a pretty sweet music setup. If you feel like PAYING for service (which I don't anymore), it will find an artist for you and play that artist like a radio rotation of just them OR even cooler...

if you like an artist's style, you can select "Artist Match" and it will play that artist and those who sound similar.

That's a pretty spiffy little feature.

I have 2 computers & a laptop all with different setups:

WMP (video)

MusicMatch Juke box (audio)

MPC (w/ Real Alt; QuickTime Alt; & Matroska ...for video)

MMJB (aduio)

WinAmp (both)

I've tried iTunes, Quintessential, Zoom Player, & Nostra, as well as a few others

and if you don't like winamp then i would say iTunes isn't bad at all (but i prefer MMJB /Winamp) and mpc is good (except for not having playlists) as are WMP and others. (I also liked Nostra's interface but unfortunately i gave up on it due to the fact that its bundled with adware :realmad: )

I LOVE YOU!

And to be on topic, I find WMP 9 to be alright as well. I don't expect too much from my media players, anyhow. :P

It's not Windows... It's just MPC. You think M$ would dare try to make a "lite" program? Get with it. :P lol

Also, to all you posting that you prefer WMP... didn't the guy ask for non-bloated programs?
