Boot from second partition or HDD

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to setup a windows xp from a second hdd? So i don't have to burn it on a cd anymore? Example: i have a C and a D partition. I will format the C and want to install xp, not with a cd but with the xp dir witch is on D. So i've to make my partition D in the bios the first boot device. Will this work or is the only way to install XP with a CD?

Hmm so rvm pack won't work with the option you described
This is the only downside to this way of installing. When I use RyanVM's pack I get an error at T=15. It happens when you install with winnt.exe or winnt32.exe, when you install from a CD all goes well
Well i'l will try your option one time

I really recommend it! It is so much faster than when you use a CD!! Your $OEM$ folder is copied much faster, your windows install will be much faster, and your apllication install faster :thumbup

So all you do is a winXP SP2 without RVMpack. Do you manualy integrate all the hotfixes? and if you do you integrate them with nlite? And what about device drivers or tweaks (with or without nlite)?

edit. I see that you do install applacations. But i would still like to know if you integrate the rest (wow mijn engels wordt met de jaren slechter :blushing: )

Personaly I don't intergrade hotfixes. I like to install them later with WPI, the same goes for regtweakers and applications aswell.

For device drivers, I use Bâshrat the Sneaky driverpacks, which works great.

There isn't much off a difference installing from a harddrive, or from a cd. The biggest difference is that you should'nt RyanVM's update pack.
