I've asked for Q254087 earlier this May and MS support told me it is not currently available. As for Q329128, I requested the WinME version of Q329128 and was told that wasn't available too. For Q265528 I've asked about this in late Feb. 2005; I was going in circles on that one 'til an intelligent MS support rep. told me that it was not available.

let's try to ask Microsoft for those missing W98fe hotfixes in July or August. or even ask again in the fall 2005 season. maybe they'll have it then.

As a side effect of my check of all files in SE SP 2.0 I have a list of all (?) updates for Windows 98 Standard Edition.

I think that preparation of the SP would be not so different in comparison with SE SP and therefore it would not need such a big effort.

But are there people looking for it?

Although most hotfixes are available, there is still not so short list of missing ones:

Q189591, Q190715, Q192117, Q192845, Q193473, Q195564, Q196008, Q217189, Q224073, Q233017, Q234697, Q240896, Q241134, Q242939, Q243048, Q254087, Q265528, Q269239

Is there anybody who could help me to obtain them?

And regarding Windows 98 SE, does anybody have Q329128, Q317796, Q271701, Q254660 (they are in MS KB) and Q277623, Q318307, Q268064 (just  referenced in SE SP)?

If anybody has any of these files, please send them to p@s.cz.

Petr

Q217189 Tapisrv.exe is included in the Win98 SP1 Q232972 update; Q277623 does not exist.

...and if Win98 hotfixes Q192117, Q254087 , Q265528 & Q329128 are not available by this fall or winter they may not be available anymore and MS may have been silently pulled them off their hotfix servers due to problems we are unaware of.

Q242056 might be available as Q242161 hotfix. will try to ask MS for Q242161 instead of Q242056 as Q242161 has the same version of vmm.vxd file as Q242056. I'll keep you posted on this one, Petr

May I also have a copy of Q242161 please?

Many thanks in advance.

sure thing, MDGx. But be sure to revise your "Unofficial Windows 98 KRNL386.EXE build 4.10.1999 Fix" and post it as 98KRNLUP.EXE & make sure it installs on both Win98 FE & SE. that will elliminate the need to release it for separate editions of Win98.

Good find, please send me this hotfix by e-mail or let me know the URL for download.

Petr

I will sent Q242161 to MDGx first, Petr. Once he has it, you will be able to obtain it from his web site.

VMM.VXD

I didn't have installed this file in my Win98SE.

is this file installed in original Windows 98 installation?

Why it's necessary have this file? or it's not necessary?

:hello::hello:

This is part of VMM32.VXD, as many other VXDs.

Gape's SP 2.0.1 installs newer VMM.VXD build 4.10.2226 which is designed for 98SE = if u have 98SE that's the only 1 u should install.

Patch above should be installed only on 98 FE, and contains also an older VMM.VXD for 98SE.

I think MDGx means that Q242161 vmm.vxd patch should be used under Win98 FE because Q242161 has v4.10.1999 of vmm.vxd file for 98fe and v4.10.2223 for 98se. Q288430 has vmm.vxd file v4.10.2226 for 98se only.
