Kelvir virus - Maybe

I have Kaspersky installed on my machine. I ran a full check yesterday. My mate told me he had the kelvir virus on his machine so he used a Norton patch to resolve it - just to see i ran the patch on my PC and the log stated the virus was there - how come one AV is saying no there isnt and another says there is or am i reading something wrong?
