bjorksdebut
I've just installed SP2 (overcoming fears that perhaps changes will be made to my computer that I might not necessarily need or like) and changes have been made that I don't necessarily need or like... Namely the stupid Security Center that has my computer by the balls. I've already turned off the alerts for not having a firewall or not allowing windows to automatically update my computer... but there's this really annoying popup whenever I download a program from the internet:"The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?"[Run] [Don't Run]Is there some registry tweak or something that could disable this friggin box? or is there a way that I can just turn off the security center? or uninstall it? Get rid of it?To all advocates of the security center:It is just a bundle of alerts, popups, notifications, what-have-you, that are probably useful for people who don't already know that the internet is an unsafe place due to viruses and spyware, but to (probably) everyone on this forum it's a bundle of useless harddrive space being used up by another form of annoying popups, much worse than spyware... BECAUSE YOU CAN'T TURN IT OFF OR GET RID OF IT.

DiGGiTY
If you want to disable Security Center, just disable the Security Center service.
inom123
You can disable Security Center from the control panel. You can also put a shortcut to it on the desktop. You can also have a shortcut to the firewall and Automatic updates on the desktop.I got so sick of having so many icons and clicks needed to turn it off I wrote a little freeware tool.www.quicksecuritycenter.comPeter
