Start in DOS mode2. perform a scandisk /autofix to let your pc check the hard drive in DOS.....see if it's clean. If you want to be prompted on any error, then don't do the /autofix....3. I would then do scanreg and let the registry get cleaned up in DOS mode.Then reboot and if no luck:go back to DOS mode, try scanreg /restore and restore the session from the day you had the problem....(e.g if a problem happened today, you could restore this AM or yesterday's registry)Then see....Otherwise, you may need to reinstall W98...which is easy enough...
