ramik
I always shut down the computer by hibernating it (Hibernate feature in windows XP), like this it boots up faster.after the last windows fresh-install (few months ago), and some memory problems (bad memory module, now i replaced it), everything went ok, till a couple of weeks ago:sometimes (once every 2 days) after that Windows wake from a hibernate session, i get the screen of the desktop but it's freezed, nothing moves, if i restart with the restart button, the computer will boot, but it will not detect the harddisk, and the only way to make it work is to power off the machine and power it on again, like this the hard disk gets re-detected, and windows work again (asking to delete the old hibernate file or not).SMART tools says the harddisk is OK, everything within normal parameters....what could be the problem? gotdilbert
Try reflashing bios and shorting your cmos pin. (after), then reconfigure. Try checking the slave master jumper too.
