Remove "log Off" From Start Menu

Recommended Posts

After installing option 1 & 3 of 98se2me, TweakUI can't remove "Log off" from Start Menu, is it merely a registry hack to take that out? or embedded in the replaced Explorer/CmDlg/etc?

Otherwise, everything appears to be pretty darn functional thus far

quite impressive

<Gah, meant to go into Killer Replacements...Maybe that "sticky" under this SubThread should have its own SubThread heh>

Just delete this, will try a reply to the right thread.

I reposted to the proper thread, and that RegistryTweak no longer works:

Crash&Burn, there is a registry hack that I saw in an old summer 1998 PC Computing magazine that removes the Log Off command from the Start Menu.

Open registry editor [regedit.exe] and navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

create a Binary Value called NoLogOff. Set NoLogOff to 01 00 00 00 and click on OK. close Regedit and restart the computer for the change to take effect.

ok, the registry hack I mentioned earlier only works under normal Win98 fe/se. It won't work under WinME and Win98se with the 98SE2ME pack installed. Without the 98se2me pack under W98se, the hack will work.

If you have installed option 3, just go to "task bar and start menu properties"

control panel or tool bar -- and click on ADVANCED tab, then check

"display logoff " - "APPLY" then uncheck "display logoff" - "APPLY".

Seems to understand only after checking and unchecking.

You can also use RESHACKER on EXPLORER and remove shutdown button from start menu, then put "shutdown button" and "restart button" in quick launch toolbar.
