Ide/raid?

Recommended Posts

im looking at this motherboard and it says

Serial ATA & IDE RAID
The onboard Silicon Image Sil3114R and ITE 8212F RAID controllers plus the Intel ICH6R southbridge provide the best solution to your RAID requirements on different storage standards. The Intel ICH6R supports RAID 0, 1 and Intel Matrix RAID Technology on 4 Serial ATA ports. The Silicon Image Sil3114R controller offers four additional SATA interfaces and allows RAID 0, 1, 10, JBOD, and a RAID software patch to support RAID 5. For IDE hard disk drives, the ITE 8212F controller provides RAID 0, 1 , 0+1 functionality for two ATA133 channels.

does the raid controller allow you to use IDE hard drive?

i dont know about this so plz help

this means you can use your ide hard disk.

SATA is way better than IDE (150Mbit/s vs 130Mbit/s) and will only getter better

with SATA2.

As for the fan connections see if the asus site lets u view the manual for the motherboard, it will tell you.

150 vs 133, okay, so 17Mega Bytes a second (not bit ;)) more for flushing cache and interface speed. I can tell you there is almost NO diference of speed between them, not even with the upcomming SATA 2.

Also most drives brands don´t even border with ATA 133, just using ATA 100, and still there is almost NO performance boost with SATA :} .
