Hm. I've found some information in Russian, because in original it is Russian patch.

It doesn't include IE5, MDAC2.6, MSI, JET3.5 updates, does not support rollback (uninstallation). Does include ATA drives assignment patch + some Russian-specified fixes.

maximus-decim, sorry, your text crapped. Нихуя не прочтешь, пиши уж транскипом!

Ya k tomu chto nehorosho na sayte conkurenta takoe vikladivat.

it will be compared some days later by me (i dont have MDCU 2.0 now - only previous ones) - closest to sunday :} - Maximus can make it faster as an author :)

Furthermore - it was done by Maximus for previous versions in Russian (on russian forum pages)

NUSB2.0

from WinMe:

USBNTMAP.SYS, USBSTOR.SYS, USBAUTH.SYS, USBMPHLP.PDR - nothing more :thumbup

If it is a cumulative of all hot-fixes, and if it installs ALL these hot-fixes, I think it's not a good idea.

Because:

1- SP 2.0 only installs necessary hot-fixes for your system. It doesn't install ALL hot-fixes without checking your system.

2- Preserving (after installing SP, Windows looks firstly SP files from SP2.CAB for installing any needed file) and slipstreaming support cannot be supported by this cumulative update.

3- Some of Microsoft's hot-fixes have problems. For example, Q311561 causes registry errors on some systems, SP 2.0 has a fix for it, so it contains a better Q311561.

Also I'm not sure about the compability of this update with the SP.

Note that SP 2.0 does NOT contain any file from Windows ME.

  • 2 months later...

As I've considered what I've read in other topics, it seems to be a good combination to install first Maximus Decim's Updates and then Gape's UO SP2.

Is it true, in case I in my work (and many others I guess) need at least basic (if not full) support for USB mass storage devices?

I install many Windows-PCs and more and more users have USB flash drives, some coming w/o 98 driver-CD.

At least I need to put easily my own USB flash into any computer, when needed ;)
