kukris Posted February 8, 2005 Share Posted February 8, 2005 How can I get rid of the IPC$ Share (interprocess communications) via a reg setting or other means?I can get rid of the admin shares by using the following reg key.[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters]"AutoShareWks"=dword:00000000"AutoShareServer"=dword:00000000Is there something similiar for the IPC$ share? bosco555 Posted January 11, 2008 Share Posted January 11, 2008 Hi Kukris, and all the others who may be interested (I know that this post is nearly 3yrs old, but I only stumbled upon it today).The only way to disable the IPC$ share is to disable the Server service. Now this will not stop you from your browsing/normal day-to-day workings but no-one will be able to see what's on your PC (that's the theory).Microsoft O.S.s' are like swiss cheese....Stick to Linux/Unix.
