comomolo Posted February 7, 2005 Share Posted February 7, 2005 After installing Windows on top of another Windows installation, it's now under the WINDOWS.0 folder.Is there any way to rename this folder back to just WINDOWS?(The computer is running perfectly well and I know that there's no need to change that folder's name. oftentired Posted February 7, 2005 Share Posted February 7, 2005 Doing so would require that you edit the Registry so that each and every instance of Windows.0 is changed to Windows. The way to successfully do this is to delete the content of your Windows folder and then copy the content of your Windows.0 folder to your (now empty) Windows folder. Then edit the registry and restart the system. It will begin to use the Windows folder after the restart.A third party Registry Editor that has a Search and Replace function would likely be most helpful. However, you can export the entire registry as a REG file and then use an advanced notepad type editor (that has Search and Replace) to edit that REG file.
