When using RC1 in 98sleek I get an error from patchnps.exe that says,

ERROR: File is neither original nor patched!

Ran patchnp.exe by hand and patched sleek notepad ok. Did a binary compare

against an orig notepad patched with patchnp.exe and the only diff was

the string shell32.dll and shell32.w98.

no prob., Mdgx. Q290831 patch for Windows ME was easy to obtain. the patch

requires Q273017 patch to be installed first so remind users on your site to apply

Q273017 and then Q290831.

uh, yeah, like anytime now FixItMad. can you use your personal email address

instead of your work address to send me Q246615 patch? i hope you are not busy.

Thanks for the info. 2.0 RC1 has problems about patching. I'm working on it now. After solving these patching problems, I'll release 2.0 RC2.

Gape

Reread my earlier post and it looks confusing.

All I was really trying to say was that patchnp.exe seems to work for both

the original notepad and the one patched by 98lite.

Also if SP2rc1 is launched from a drive other than C all the patch routines in

runpre.bat fail due to the failure of the command cd %winbootdir%.

By the way, what are the notepad and regedit patches for?

Forget it, MDGx. FixItMad isn't responding. I'll ask someone else to ask for the Q246615

update.

I guess it doesnt matter if I am using the English SP 2.0 on my local (Hungarian) W98SE?

As far as I know it shouldnt casue any problem. Am I right?

no, TomAce. You need to use exact language version of SP 2.0 for your localized

version of Win98se.

English SP 2.0 is for English Win98se only. you need to get Hungarian version of SP 2.0

for Hungarian language edition of Win98se. Installing the SP that is from a different

language than your Win98se system can cause problems.

Of course could cause problems, anything could in a M$ program :P

But i am always using different language type of dll, sys, and ini files (english, and hungarian). As I know only the language is the different in these files, so the only thing which could happen, is I will get some messages in english instead of hungarian.

Using English SP on my Hungarian Win98SE is the same than using any other english hotfixes, system files right?

But please correct me if I am wrong.

Um, I'll let Gape answer your question. I'm still not comfortable in mixing system files with different languages. Gape might have a better response than what I have.
