PS - Yes - I'll look into localized versions as well. But atm I still haven't got the time. Whould it be cool to localize the USP 5.1 Standard Edition only? Many of the components I plan to include in the Extreme Edition are only available in English anyway.

as soon as you get the chance to share info on witch update-packs you have uses, let us know soon, so we can start gathering al the updates we need..

further more i wonder, - what if we resourse edit the $test$-string.res with a localized (older) version, ar in case nessesary - compare lines, and manualy translate the missing parts...

(any-one?????? up 4 ideas about THIS)

Okay then - here's the complete unabbreviated list of fixes that I feed to my sp-builder - those are all going to be in the USP5.0 SR-1. The IE/OE fixes (four of them) are for the built-in IE501SP5 / OE55SP2. The urp1 builds 1021, 1028, 1032 are needed.

Gurgelmeyer, thanks for all the hard work. I finally made it through all 54 pages of this thread. My son just destroyed his operating system by attempting to put a picture on the computer he had added to a floppy. Sadly, he put the picture on an old Gateway MS-Dos 6.0 install disk and left it in the drive when he rebooted. He then proceeded to let it boot and somehow hit the enter key grrrrrrrrr. So I'm faced with reinstalling 2000. After much reading I was led here. I have used nlite for quite awhile now but am always frustrated by the massive amounts of additional fixes that have to be installed and for some reason with the new WGA I have trouble downloading auto updates. I have a current unattended slipstreamed sp4 and added the usp5 last night. After completeing I restarted nlite and attempted to create another slipstream of a couple additionl hotfixes but got a message that said "you already have slipstreamed hotfixes and you will need to remove them first if you want to continue" Not sure why this is happening as it never has happened before.

While I would like to wait for your full rollout that includes 2000 updates, ie6, dx9.0c, .net, etc. I don't have that luxury as the machine is needed for school work. Here's what I would like to do and am still not perfectly clear on the proper way to go about it.

1. I want to update xp4 to xp5 slipstreaming through nlite unattended, if possible I'd like to add the other things above to that slipstreamed cd without using cmd line as I don't even know what cmd line is. For those things that can't currently be slipstreamed detailed info. on how and when they should be added.

2. I have seen the additional files you have to download but once downloaded I don't know how to integrate them. Do I simply copy them to a file on the nes xp5 computer and double click on them?

I guess what I'm asking is if you would be kind enough to tell me step by step the order in which and the way in which I should install this new OS with all of the above using nlite as much as I can. I'm guessing my first step is to take my unattended sp4 and slipstream to usp5 and then........

Thanks in advance

Whoa! No such bannana. XP4? I hope that was a typo. As for the switches to integrate a SP - try the /? switch. If all you want to do is integrate a SP, why mess with nlite at all? If you are in ahurry, just install 2k and get him back to (school) work.

Hi :)

I'm pleased to announce that USP 5.0 SR-1 will be released within 24 hours  - so if anyone are considering to dl the current version with a modem, they should wait, or they should download from RyanVMs place, which is still http://sp5.ryanvm.net

I've been VERY busy with 5.0 SR-1 for the past week.

USP 5 SR-1 will contain a few more security updates, and many new or rebuilt non-security bugfixes from MS. This might be the last USP 5.0 release for a very long time, because I'll dedicate my time to USP 5.1 for the next few weeks.

Best regards,

Gurgelmeyer B)

PS

@Onlygains - if you still got problems, find your original w2k CD (the one with the hologram ;) ), and integrate USP5 before you integrate anything else. The test-packages are not suitable for slipstreaming. Just install them when w2k is set up.

@trickytwista - Yes, USP 5.0 is cumulative and includes SP4.

@-I- - what next? You'll have to send me the updates, and I'll build a USP for you - no big deal I think ;) But let me know when you got the ones you want.
