an annoying 'restart ?' message I could do without

Recommended Posts

Just before my post.cmd file specified in [GuiRunOnce] runs and installs all my non-pnp drivers and applications, I get the following dialog box -

System Settings Change - Windows has finished installing new devices, do you want to restart your computer now ? Yes/No

This stays on the screen while all my applications install, then I perform a reboot and the end.

It looks unprofessional, so I would like to get rid of it, any ideas ?

thanks,

Em Kay

That did not work.

Besides that, isn't that WaitForReboot=No for automating restarting after finished installing windows? and not wait those 15 secs?

I'm pretty sure you're right about that sebastian.

I still have no idea what is causing this, and it seems like EMKAY isn't talking. :(

sorry guys, been busy mucking around with my unattend.txt for a whole week now...

I've been through every single line and I have traced the problem to -

[unattended]

ExtendOemPartition=1

if I remove this line, no restart message !

however, the way I have my unattended install at the moment is as an image of a 4gb FAT32 bootable partition containing all the required install files. I386, apps; drivers etc..

I drop this via Altiris rdeploy to the target pc, reboot and install commences - don't have to use any cdroms...its a bit like a RIS solution

however, on the target pc I want it to use the whole drive, so I've got ExtendOemPartition=1 in my attend.txt - if I can't get around the restart message I might have to use rdeploy to resize the partition first.

thanks,

Em Kay

  • 1 year later...

Same problem here after upgrading the "Bâshrat the Sneaky's DriverPacks" BASE and MASS STORAGE.

I don't have

[unattended]

ExtendOemPartition=1

likes EMKAY...

What can I do?

I think that .sif .ini .cmd are not the problem,

but that one of my "mass storage" get configurised at the first boot of windows, and need a restart...

I have an Nforce3 without RAID and the HDD is a Maxtor EIDE.

Stupid Question but have you added the KB888111 HD audio patch? before you load the driver? ie SVC ?

I use Radia with the Altiris client and we use DC7100 , D530 and DC7600 well all the HP Bussniess desktop ranges and this works fine for us.

If you get the same issue I would....

Change the oempnpdrivers path to first install the chipset then graphics and then the sound and Nic.

Also on another note are you using HP Drivers? espically for the graphics card? the intel one is much better and supports more chipset variants.

Like I say we have like 6 tho of these things and they work fine.

Uhm,

I have integrated ONLY the MASS STORAGE driver,

no audio, no graphics...

And my pc is not an HP, but an assembled with Nforce4 (not 3) :)

Tomorrow I will do some tests... but if anyone have an idea.... tnx!
