aresgodofwar
well from what i can gather the boot screen is kept in a file called ntoskrnl.exe. and on the xp cd, it's in the i386 folder as ntoskrnl.ex_ so, you should download a bootscreen. do the makecab command to take it from ntoskrnl.exe to ntoskrnl.ex_ then copy it to the i386 folder overwriting the existing one there (be sure to back it up) then voila - a new boot screen. disclaimer: i have not tested this, so do this at your own risk! lol

Astalavista
be very careful when u do this ntoskrnl.exeare specific for none sevice pack release, sp1 and sp2.if u install a ntoskrnl.exe that is none compliant to sp2 your windows will hang. deadntoskrnl.exe has to be compliant.made this error before. i put a ntoskrnl.exe that was meant for pre sp1 to sp2windows hang of hell

neuro42
Try using resource hacker to change the bitmap images, then makecab and overwrite it.If not, try modifyPE to make it "compliant"

aresgodofwar
i have downloaded a couple of bootscreens from themexp.org and most come with sp2 compliant versions. as for 2003, im not sure. you should probably try neuro42's suggestion.IMPORTANT!! : looks like themexp.org bundles spyware with the downloads. please be aware that installing these files may put unwanted crap on your computer. this is sad because this site didn't used to be like that. now i gotta find another good site for themes and stuff.
