strangely can't find this anywhere so i'll make it a feature request:

Option to fill in useraccounts (with their avatar)/give computername/give workgroup name (for the network).

That would be great!

  • 2 weeks later...

If truth be told I cant think of much other things that can be improved except from, in all honesty. Sure you have made the things possible to do it but there isnt much ways in how to accomplish things. I beleive that your in the process of redesigning the website and making it easier to understand? I do like this place and have received a lot of feedback.

Hey there! I'm kinda new to this unattended stuff, but I'm doing great with WPI, it's my favourite :)

Now, I'll try not to get lost with my english...

Wouldn't it be nice if...

1 - ... there was some kind of a tool box in the Config page (maybe at the top of the screen), where you could choose basic font style properties, like size, italic, underlined, colour, center, justify...

2 - ... This is somehow related to the previous "wish". You see the tips box (am I using the right name for this? It's the little informative window that appears when you roll your mouse over a button or an item in the list that has a description); why not create an additional tool to add an image/icon to the description window?

EDIT: See my post below.

You know, like another command line named "Icon" where you type the relative path of the image file for each program of your list... And when you leave it blank it wouldn't display any icon whatsoever.

This is just a hint to think about it if you want to. First I thought about using icons in the list itself, but either they should be very small or very space demanding :}

Good luck! Keep up the excellent work! :D

Hmmmm your ideas are both worthwhile and defiantly worth looking into. Both of those are going to be VERY hard to implement though since WPI is kinda modular.

Maybe we could find someone to build a theme designer assistant?

That would cover all of the font/image issues.

Anyone have any ideas for this?

Maybe I can find a way for config.js to display icons I will look into it, it is kind of interesting.

what he's saying about those icons seems kinda impossible, because you're all forgetting that wpi is plain html, and as far as I know html can't use .ico files. And having an image for each program seems kinda... messy! This seems to me the point where you should maybe port WPI to a programmed version (maybe visual basic or c++ or whatever)

Hmm... Of course I don't have that much experience and knowledge with JS, so...

1 - Just forget the icons. :P

(...) add an image/icon to the description window (...)

Image OR icon means that the coder can choose whatever is easier and of course I had in mind that we're dealing with HTML, that's why I suggested something as simple as <img src="...">

2 - Sorry kelsenellenelvian, I don't understand the "kinda modular" thing... are you trying to tell me that Part A from "thisone.js" can't easily communicate with Part B from "thatone.js" inside WPI? Or do you mean that the easiest way is creating a full toolbar above each application config?

3 - I think this image idea would be useful most for screenshots... check this out plz

Good luck!

No imean when wpi.hta runs it compiles a full script from the theme folder and then adds in the config.js and options.js and so on and so forth .hta actually just take all of the scripts and adds them together into one file during the process of using WPI.

So each script is easy to change/maintain especially when upgrading to another version.

I was looking at each script and theme folder as being kind of modular.

P.S. Not sure quit what you mean by that image if you mean for screenies in the manual and examples, then yes default theme would be used for those images.

Ok, I get the idea. but wouldn't it be handier if you had the following:

- in the yellow box you have the description like now + an icon of the program

- next to the program's name there is a small button, and when you click on it, a box like the yellow one, with no text but just a screenshot appears (of course this button isn't there if no ss is found)

Just giving my opinion... :P

Humm... new idea (I think)

Group management

- Groups should have their own structure (?) (maybe keep them in an array) and be referenced by number, not by name.

- The drop-down list of groups should be like:

"1 - Microsoft Xtras"

"2 - System"

"3 - Utilities"

...

- The apps in the config page are assigned to the group NUMBER, NOT the group NAME.

- In the options page, you have a similar drop-down list where you click over "2 - System" (for example) and an input-box ahead allows you to change the name of it.

IMPORTANT: How to change the group order without screwing up the whole thing? Temporary Answer: Keep an input-box that allows you to type the order the groups are displayed, just like it's used now for the groups' names (instead of "Microsoft Xtras,System,Utilities,..." it would be "1,2,5,3,6,4").

- This way, everytime the user decides to change the name of a group, it's not needed to update that in the config page.

Is this alright? Does this idea need some improvements?

Feel free to reply!

A hello to the working team :thumbup and you all out there

Sorry kelsenellenelvian, missed your reply :blushing:

I was just explaining how I actually use screenshots of the apps in the list, NOT for the manual

The thumbnail is clickable.

Hello hasi001,

I just downloaded V3.5.1 from your site.

It still does not work on Japanese OS due to the script error from lang.js as I had before, even it has Japanese data. :}

I hope we will have indivisual lang.js by language.... or some instruction as follows,

If you have a script error when WPI runs, please delete all language data from lang.js except your mother language and English.

Cheers,

Tinywoods
