Crash&Burn
To create the Admin Install Point from your harddrive instead of the CD, from the run prompt: X:\Office2k\setup.exe /a x:\Office2k\DATA1.MSI(obviously my files are in X:\Office2k, change your drive/path accordingly). Also edit the setup.ini, under [Options]PIDKEY=<YOURSETUPKEY>Will skip prompting you to manually enter it for the admin install.hitting [Next] will request the directory to place the admin install. Hope this helps someone, installing from harddrive is way quick Edited October 28, 2005 by Crash&Burn
erpdude8
Office XP? I use OpenOffice. Free and much smaller and more customizable. I love it. Does everything officeXP does and probably a bit more.www.openoffice.org[Edited for inappropriate language.]Do you have that version of office that comes with _TWO_ Disks? if not, then you don't do that last step. Which would seem not, as the error message is indicating non-existing file...I have the version with 4 CDsyou must be using Office 2000 Premium Edition, didadocom, which uses 4 CDs (that's the same edition I'm using except I only have CD1 and not the other CDs) The Small Business and Professional editions of O2K use just 2 CDs.I may try slipstreaming my Office 2k premium with the SP3 pack with that Office Slipstreamer tool.====== Post Nº 2 ======DO NOT CREATE AN ADMINISTRATIVE INSTALLATION !!!!!I tried that to no avail.Totally agree with handyjap. Making an "administrative" install point of Office 2k by running SETUP.EXE /A in the beginning creates unnecessary files and folders (especially the Program Files folder) that WILL mess up the slipstream process when duing the "actual" slipstream later on (and the merged or sliptstreamed data1.msi or data2.msi files may reference those files stored on folders with long names when doing the actual Office 2000 setup; not good). Running SETUP.EXE /A may NOT accept the SHORTFILENAMES=1 or SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE parameter, a crucial part in using short names for files and folders. So I recently did it using handyjap's method of slipstreaming Office 2k SP3 and it worked great. Doing the O2K slipstream with the Office Slipstreamer tool didn't work as I ended up with a messy slipstream. ChiefZeke
Office Slipstreamer (works on 2000, XP, 2003, 2007) will do it - problem is it is an older program that has not been supported for quite a while - a Google search may find it for download.
