army20
Yesterday, I went at FutureShop for a DVDburner (HP 630) and I got curious by seeing a Microsoft fingerprint reader. I bought it thinkink that it can give me a stronger security for my laptop but ... it is not the purpose of it. This fingerprint reader has been designed for storing password in internet explorer. Anyways if anyone know a software that can be used with this fingerprint reader for combining a username, a password and a fingerprint for XP authentification jsut let me know plz. Shotgun
Well, at a local bank I saw something like a usb device that looked like a trackpad, but it was really a fingerprint reader. They use it there to login to Windows with just placing their finger on it. Don't really know who makes it or how it works, but seeing it definitely confirms that such device could be obtained online. I'll google it to see what I can find. DigeratiPrime
i think you will see alot of fingerprint scanners in 2005/2006 being sold. Microsft said something recently about hoping to eliminate the need for passwords, in fact at microsoft i beleive they all already use some sort of biometric identification for everything. So I believe in Longhorn and near future internet most authorization will be done with biometrics.
army20
For my computer, I'm loking in a combinaison of Username+Passwd+Biometric or USB token. I'm looking in a two way identification to avoid keyloggers
