Mekrel
FX series = nvidea, not sure about the xt bit, thought ultra was the term given to high clocked GPU cards from nvidea.

Smitty519
I'm using an ASUS Radeon X800XT Platinum card in a system with an E7525 chipset. I followed this guide to install the latest ATI Catalyst drivers and CP. After the first logon, the drivers and CP are installed and seem to work normally. However, there are 2 unknown devices in Device Manager which claim to be "through the X800XT card". If I uninstall these 2 devices, the system seems to work normally. But, next time I reboot, they come right back again. I don't know what these 2 devices are, and I can't figure out what I need to do to install the correct drivers for them.Anyone have any clues? Smitty519
Thanks for the quick response.I should have said this in my first post. After the CP install completes there are 2 X800XT devices, one primary and one secondary. There are also 2 unknown devices. It's not an AIW version, it's just a straight graphics card. frnak42
hmmm yeah, it would seem I forgot to mention one detail. It does work perfectly well with ATI based cards, but if no ATI card is present, then the setup seems to hang. Most people probably don't care, but for those of us building a one cd fits all kinda solution will be somewhat p***ed.Frnak

frnak42
No I am not, but I'm actually running under winPE which is kinda different but the general guidelines are the same. I simply run the setup file /k under the oemrunonce section. I never had that problem before, as previous driver versions (5.1 and under) would just not install themselves if no ATI card was present.I run both the ATI and nVidia setups upon every installation I do, but they have been smart enough to simply not install if no compatible card was found, except for the catalyst 5.2 that is.Frnak

So I suggest you keep on using the Catalyst 5.1 untill it's fixed. You may want to inform ATI about this issue
frnak42
Oh for sure the 5.1s are gonna be my drivers of choice, especially since ATI realeses drivers every other week, I'll just wait for the 5.3s. One last thing, my email to ATI is on it's way and when the 5.3s will come out I will post again to let you guys know if the issue has been resolvedFrnak

SiMoNsAyS
k, tried them from myself to be sure. no problems at all, installation didn't hanged.probably it won't be any problem for common unattenders, if you use the conditional "if exist".i guess the hang is only when ati card is not present so setup doesn't quit propperly...also let me recommend to every1 as i did, program a reboot after all your apps, drivers and stuff is installed
frnak42
yeah, the problem is only when no ati card is present, otherwise all works great. And I do a force reboot after every driver just to be on the safe side.Frnak
