mysql_pconnect() error

Recommended Posts

I recently decided to set one of my computers back up as a server just to do some personal site testing. Well i've tried basically everything i can think of and im still stuck with this error...

Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client in C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\htdocs\indexDynamicListings.php on line 21

Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

The set up is as follows:

Apache 2.0.52

PHP 5.0.2

Zend Optimizer 2.5.7

MySQL 4.1.7 Essential (Tried using the normal package too).

all on WinXP PRO SP2.

I tried switching back to Apache 1.3.33 also, but it was to no avail. Any suggestions would be welcome.
