Hi

Question of the day... ;-)

If i change security on my XP

i remove all the group in the strategie "open a session localy"

i receive the message " You couldn't log interactively because of the local strategie.....blablabla" OK

BUT

How can i restore the secsetup.inf, i can't log with administrator even if i reboot with the option when i press F8 ((mode sans echec) in french)

Win PE? recovery console? secedit... yes but how without admin right?

you could use "msconfig" as well to extract files from the xp cd, it's on the "general" tab called "Expand File....". It wont let you overight it if it's in use though.

I can't log to my XP all the users are remove from the GPO

I should reconfigure the security.

But how to reconfigure the security without logon?

The file secsetup.inf contain the basic security :

seinteractivelogonright

how reconfigure this???????

You could try running WINPE. Then loading the Security Configuration & Analysis tool.

Open the template compatws.inf from %WINDIR%\Security\Templates.

Apply the template to your machine.

Reboot and see what happens.

MMC don't work under WINPE (IE5 or IE6 are remove).

  • 2 weeks later...

Do a Google search for secedit.exe unattended. You could create a batch file to be launched by WinPE or Bart's PE boot cd that will run the compatws.inf template against your machine and possibly solve the problem.

Haven't tried it myself but I know you apply security templates in cmd prompt window with batch files.
