HOTFIXES: Windows XP SP2 & Windows 2000 SP4

Recommended Posts

You should note that removing the EXEs will cause registry entries for the hotfixes to not be written. Normally that's not a huge deal, but IE Cumulative Updates do require certain registry entries for them the show as installed on Windows Update. Therefore, running the INF for 918899 should be considered mandatory.

Thanks, noted and added as an option to keep the disruptive EXEs instead of run registry entries.

I have a suggestion for the list. In the Windows 2000 section, could you modify it so it is for MDAC 2.8 SP1, instead of any MDAC version. Modifications to the lkist would be removing 832483 and changing 911562 so it just has the download for 2.8 sp1.

Hi everyone,

i have a question about the buggy KB918899 ... Microsoft has just released an updated patch for IE6 SP1 with Windows 2000 and Windows XP pre-SP2.

But, what about the updated patch for IE6 SP1 with Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2003 ?

When i read the security bulletin, it seems that every system is concerned by this buggy patch.

Is the initial patch correct or Microsoft is very late ?
