RichTJ99
Hi,I have a friend that has a Dell PC. There is something called the "dell alerts" that always start upon boot. Its pretty annoying. Is there somewhere else aside from the Start Menu (startup folder), or using the MSCONFIG util? Is there somewhere in the registry that has other items that start up?Thanks,Rich

RichTJ99
I was hoping for a location within the registry I could edit.
paul3vanz
try these locations, these are the most obvious ones:Registry EntriesHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunFolder LocationsC:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\StartupC:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Start Menu\Programs\Startupalso try this freeware app, lists them all for you, saves hunting round the registry:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/autoruns.htmlhere's some more info on stratup locations as well:http://aroundcny.com/technofile/texts/tec022402.htmlthere's absolutely loads of entries from what i've found. i saw a virus/spyware attach itself to every single one of them. services and the task scheduler are another idea, check them out and possible disable them.
