RichTJ99
Hi,Whenever I get a voicemail, the server encodes the message in real media format & then emails the file to me. I am using an older version of Real player so it doesnt run like a dog (like the newer versions) but I would rather use the windows media player instead. Is there a way to do this? Thanks,Rich
ChunkDog
I dont think it's an open format, so your stuck using realplayer to play that media format.
sleepnmojo
Use Real Alternate. It will allow you to play them in media player classic.
Denney
If you just install the Real Alternative codec, you can play RealMedia files in Windows Media Player.

RichTJ99
That did the trick! No more sluggish Real player!
jdoe
I tried Real Alternative in the past but I could not use Windows Media Player to play realmedia file. I test it again with .ram file and Real Alternative 1.27 codecs and still not work and it seem to work for some of you.Is there something I need to know to make it work with Windows Media Player? RichTJ99
I get .ra files so I am not sure if that makes a difference. That is also the only type of Real Media file I use. I just installed it & it worked like a charm.
Denney
Are you using WMP10? I couldn't get it to work properly under WMP9.
jdoe
@RaveRodYes I have WMP10.So you just installed Real Alternative and now you can play .ram files without any other reg tweaks or something else.If so then I will keep in mind that it is possible and will look at it to find the reason because it must be a reason.BTW are realmedia files type are added in WMP options or not?
